Review: Maybelline 'Age-Rewind' concealer

Okay let’s just get this out the way, I literally have the worst under eye dark circles you can possibly imagine. They’re like if Voldemort stayed up every single night until about half 3 watching his own face on the deathly-hallows part 1 and 2, to realise that he shockingly looked better during a magical war than he does right now under his eyes… Okay, so that was the closest representation metaphorically for my dark circles and excessive hyper pigmentation. But truly. They are terrible. Therefore I aim for the highest coverage and most illuminating concealer I can find (preferably at the drug store, because every little helps ;) – Tesco reference there or is that Asda?)
Anyways, my drugstore search has lead me through most of the isles through Superdrug, to finally embark on trying the royalty of the drugstore if you will, Maybelline. Therefore, after hearing ranging reviews about the ‘Age Rewind’ concealer, the comparison to Tarte ‘Shape Tape’, and also the 2 for £10 offer in Superdrug. Meaning that I was pretty much as sold as the concealer that I bought – I’m full of jokes today, someone tell me to stop…
Anyways lets cracking on the actual review:
The formula of this drugstore concealer, is extremely light weight and not the thickest consistency I would have first anticipated. Therefore, I also feel that the overall coverage for my extreme dark tones and hyper pigmentation, meaning that the coverage isn’t quite there either, for what I desire in a concealer. However, this concealer is amazing for brightening areas of your face, such as: the forehead, the middle of the nose and the chin. Yet at the moment I haven’t had any breakouts or blemishes therefore I haven’t really been able to test it out for that ‘speciality’, but as the consistency isn’t overly dry or thick, I can imagine it would very subtly glided over the breakout. Also this cosmetic also includes ingredients that are meant to rejuvenate the skin, with anti-ageing properties, meaning that it has skin-care benefits in this propuct too! J
Furthermore, packaging-wise, I love the unique sponge applicator tip on application, although I don’t think it effects the products itself and I wouldn’t buy the product on that basis. Moreover, I feel like you use a lot of product per use and as this product isn’t the cheapest in the drugstore, which is a bit of a downfall for me.
Overall, I do love this concealer but my under eyes are just so severe that the coverage just doesn’t work for me. But if you focus more on blemish and brightening aspects of your skin routine then I would highly recommend this product.
I hope that you all really enjoyed my first even ‘in depth’ review of a product, and I will be posting another colab soon along with future more fitness and sport related post as I do love mixing up what I post on here! As sport is such a main thing in my life! Which also leads me to why this post is quite late up tonight (hopefully 7:30pm but who knows!). As today I competed to represent my county and got on the podium with bronze, for the hurdles. But I’m really, really sorry about my late upload!
But I really hope you have enjoyed todays post,
All of my love,
Daisy Jane x
I also want to let you know that this is a collaboration with the lovely Maleehah (@mxleehxhh.xo – on ig) as she also reviewed one of her holy grail makeup products, the ‘Sweet Peach’ palette by Too Faced Cosmetics.
